My client is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of equipment for Comms, Radio, EW and ECM RF testing are now seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

Our Client design and manufacture high power electronic and microwave systems to operate reliably in the harshest environments. This is a demanding role for a senior mechanical engineer who will be responsible for the integrity of their design. He or she will be required to work with the lead electrical engineer to define a mechanical assembly to securely accommodate the electronic components within the specified environment. Using 3D CAD and FEA tools such as SDRC IDEAS, CF Design and NX design software you will e required to demonstrate ability of the mechanical design to perform as specified under all conditions. This will include presenting your analysis to our customers as part of the planned project design reviews.

Main Duties:
• To design and develop mechanical solutions to incorporate the Company’s power electronic products for rugged military environments.
• To evaluate design requirements and develop mechanical designs capable of meeting all aspects of the specification.
• To develop mechanical structures and assemblies with full consideration of component tolerances to ensure consistent manufacture.
• To analyse the effects of heat, vibration, shock and acceleration to ensure the design performs as specified under all conditions.
• To analyse and resolve mechanical, thermal, interface, drawing and process problems on products as required.
• To work in conjunction with the lead engineer to predict, analyse and measure the thermal performance of electronic equipment.
• To investigate and solve mechanical production problems concerning jigs and tooling.
• To liaise with Quality Assurance on the resolution of problems during inspection stages
• To update drawings, Bills of Materials, MRI and other relevant documentation as required.
• To ensure the configuration control practices are maintained, in line with the appropriate standards.
• To undertake any other task which may reasonably be requested.
• To comply with the Company Policy on Health & Safety

Qualifications:
• HND or BSc

Essentials:
• Great team player with good communication skills.

Desirables:
• Thermal analysis and modelling.
• Military electronic packaging

Because of the nature of the work undertaken at my clients\' site, this post is required to meet special nationality rules and therefore are only open to British Citizens. All selected candidates will be required to undergo security clearance. The MoD rules state that in order to have access to this level of information, candidates \"must be British as defined in the British Nationality Act 1981\"
